Synthetic Leader Rope
Synthetic dielectric leader rope for cable pulling with diameters of 7, 10, 12, and 14-20 mm, with a breaking load of 12-34 kN, supplied in 1000-meter (1 km) coils. Reliable, very lightweight, wear-resistant, waterproof, durable, and proven leader ropes. Low elongation, minimal linear stretch, high mechanical properties. Low stretch, anti-twist. High tensile strength. Lengths (typically 1000m) can be spliced together for longer runs. Easily connected using connectors or swivel rotation compensators. Typically, the rope is selected with a breaking strength approximately twice the pulling force.
Unreeling of OPGW or ADSS type optical cable is performed using a «leader rope,» which must be made of synthetic material. The use of a steel braided non-rotating rope is also permitted. The optical cable and the leader rope are connected using special mounting fittings (pulling grips/socks), which are fitted over their end sections. During unreeling, a swivel is installed between the leader rope and the optical cable to prevent twisting of the pulling line. Additionally, two balancing weights are attached to the end sections of the cable. The first is placed 4.0 meters from the connection point of the cable and the leader rope, and the second is 4.0 meters from the first.
